Staff development training and Exposure

Training to the staffs on different techniques of organic pest and disease management with special focus to the paddy and vegetables.

Promotion of marketing for organic product
Promoting Organic Market for paddy and vegetables
Promoting scope for convergence & interface among farmers, traders & line departments.

Supply of Weeders to 41 villages
Formation of user groups for agro-inputs.
Manufacturing the weeders involving local artisans.
Supplying the weeders in time.
On field training of the farmers in operating the weeders in SRI fields.
Experimentation with traditional weeders.

Strengthening 3 seed banks
Selection of group for maintaining the seed banks.
Collection of seeds.
Maintaining register.

Green manure revolving fund support to 340 farmers
Estimating the requirement for green manure seeds.
Purchasing from govt. dept.
Supplying the farmers in revolving way.
Preparation of FYM.
Preparation of Jivamrita, Handi Khata, Amrit Jala and its application in paddy as well as vegetable fields.

Cultural show & walling
DASKATHI (folk song and dance) and walling for promotion of SRI.

Project Output and outreach

  1. 80 Farmers got sensitized, improved knowledge on concerned aspect and imparted training to fellow farmers.
  2. 80 farmers trained on bio-farming and all of them started adopting and could mobilize others to adopt the process in their fields
  3. 30 Farmers went on exposure visit to SRI Fields at 42 mouza & farmers’ SRI Fields in Narasinghpur, Baramba and Cuttack. They utilized their knowledge in their fields and helped promoting know how of their fellow beings .Besides it the Govt trained on various aspects of SRI and 341 farmers started practicing SRI
  4. Farmers got exposure on organic farming. They started preparing organic manure and applied knowledge of Organic Pest Management Technique in their fields. They helped other farmers to learn application of organic manures and processes associated with Organic Farming.
  5. Networking established among the farmers groups. Promotional efforts made to accelerate benefits through convergence and interface with GOs, NGOs, Traders, Producers and Consumers.  
  6. 10 staffs were trained on project aspects. Some of the staffs also underwent additional trainings on Sustainable Agriculture, Water and Soil Testing Techniques, SRI Process Documentation, How to prepare Organic Manure and Pesticides, Weed & Pest Management etc. They utilized their knowledge at filed level ensuring proper execution of project through good coordination among beneficiaries and rapport with local authority/line departments. They could mobilize people on issue based matters related to natural resource management, market promotion of organic agro products, gender mainstreaming and community organization etc.
  7. Marketing of organic products was promoted in Badamaba Block. Interface of Producers and Traders could enable the farmers to sell their produce in higher price. This could also ensure introduction of indigenous organic vegetables in the market. Also 35 farmers got chance to sale their organic products in open market and in weekly markets.
  8. 70 Nos. of Weeder supplied to farmers. This could help bringing more tillerings in plants leading to qualitative and quantitative yielding in paddy and vegetables.
  9. 370 farmers involved in seed bank.
  10. 340 farmers were provided with green manure seeds (Dhanicha seeds and other FYMs.).
  11. 10 Nos. Of staffs and farmers are provided with an exposure on “SSI” (System of Sugarcane intensification).
  12. Farmer’s convention on organic SRI where 500 no of SRI farmers and Go, NGO, Civil society members had interacted to promote this concept.
